WELCOME TO THE FACES OF HPPD WEBSITE!
You're here because either you have HPPD, think you have HPPD, know someone who has HPPD, or are an interested medical professional. The FACES OF HPPD Website is established to
- Recruit HPPD patients in an effort to conduct research for the medical community, and
- Find HPPD patients who are interested in telling real life stories, and
- To share resources and research about living with HPPD
WHAT IS HPPD?
Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder (HPPD) is an underreported and often misdiagnosed psychiatric and neurological medical disorder that afflicts past users of illegal recreational hallucinogenic drugs. HPPD is characterized by severe (and often permanent) visual and perceptual symptoms that compromise the daily lives of sufferers. Research shows it takes an average of six different doctor visits until a patient's diagnosis is made. The complexities of this condition combined with the lack of specialists to treat HPPD spur serious concerns for the future of a growing population of sufferers. It is a priority for practitioners to become aware of recent and abundant medical research on the topic of HPPD so they can properly diagnosis and address the needs of their patients.
